Heather McKenzie: BIO

how it is....

Let me tell you stories about love, faith and loneliness,
Let me tear off little bits of my life and give them to you to admire,
Let me pour my heart out to you so you can feel it run through your fingers,
Let me use blood sweat and tears to write you a song to escape through,
Let me give you something of mine to have yours,
Let me be grateful for you

Heather - Singer/Pianist

Born in Alberta, Canada to a musical family, Heather studied classical piano and voice and left home at the age of 15 to pursue a musical career. After touring for years in various rock bands, the desire to record and write music about her experiences arose. Heather recieved a grant from FACTOR for the recording of a song called 'Milly'. This demo helped to open many doors and the opportunity to record an album presented itself. With Kory Burns engineering, the better part of 2005 was spent recording at Lumpyland Studios in Edmonton. Lane Arndt, Tony Chmyrzinski, Byran Bueckert and Kory Burns are featured players along with some guest appearances by Mike Plume, Doug Banas, Jeff Maxwell, and Kevin Cook. A product of sheer determination and obsession, the album Every Waking Moment was written and produced by Heather and released October 2006. This pop/rock album features 12 deeply personal, piano-driven songs, with honest lyrics, unique melodies, and solid, catchy, grooves. A labor of love, and a product of determination.
Some unrelated, irrelevant facts: Heather lives in Edmonton, is a vegetarian, is a fan of The Office (Dwight Rocks!), and is reffered to as somewhat of a hippie by friends. Current live gear is a Roland Rd rescued from her sister's basement. She is currently working on her first novel, learning to play the guitar, and busy writing album #2. " I Iike to cook for friends and family and love to make them laugh, but everyone is getting tired of squash, and I am just not very funny.' Heather's first musical influences growing up were Barbara Streisand and Mozart, but when AC/DC's Back in Black album came out, she was inspired to give Babs and Classical the boot. "My first band was an all girl group called 'Snow White', we played Judas Preist, Iron Maiden, Skid Row......wish I could still rock the spandex"

Byran Bueckert - Drums

BYRAN - Lead Drums - I come from the land of the ice and snow, a 5 hour drive east of Edmonton. Previously played with Steeler, Mike Plume, Black Water Jack, Bad Dawg, Riot Act, etc, etc. Current Live Gear: 20 year old Gretsch kit, various snares, plus whatever uncracked cybals I have lying around. Byran's a big Bruins and OIler fan. Always one to enjoy and cold, wet, beer, Byran likes to read astronomy and physics books. 'I did some modelling when I was younger, mostly cars, but a few airplanes as well. I am a monster on the pottery wheel"....

Grant T - Guitar

GRANT - Lead Guitar - Born in Vegreville, AB "I was a cute kid." Grant's current live gear consists of a Crate BV120watt hd w/4x12 cab and a tennis racket. Growing up, Grant was influenced by Randy Rhoads, Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden), Triumph the Insult Comic Dog, my Mom, and SRV. Grant has played in Face First, King Ring Nancy and the JFR Project before joining the Heather McKenzie Band. Grant is a big fan of Raspberry Vodka and Ice Tea. "I used to play in an Ukranian folk band playing polkas, waltzes and the Bird Dance (my first band!)"
